Location
On a privileged location, nestled between the Tortuguero Lagoon and the Caribbean Ocean, in the North Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica; only a few minutes away from the Tortuguero National Park.
The Lodge can be reached by land/boat or by air.

Overview
Mawamba Lodge is a 15-acre beachfront property offering nice views to the Canals. It is the ideal hideaway for nature lovers and people seeking soft adventures.
|
Tortuguero, is a navigable network of lagoons and canals that cross the National Park from Southeast to the Northwest. As a general rule, nature watching is amazing, but a long-time favorite is the nesting of the green sea turtle, an awesome phenomenon that can be observed every year from July to October and that attracts observers from all over the world.
Other traditional activities include visits to the town and Caribbean Conservation Corporation (CCCL walks in the National Park & nature observation boat tours.

The comfortable Lodge is surrounded by beautiful gardens that blend with the exuberant jungle vegetation attracting exotic birds and wildlife. Features a family style restaurant catering international and delicious local cuisine and a pool- bar surrounded by tropical gardens where you can enjoy local specialties and cocktails.

Dining
Chelonia Restaurant, by the pool area and just about 50 meters from the beach, offers all meals at the Lodge, served buffet style. Special menus for vegetarians, diabetics or any other dietary restriction can be arranged when indicated in advance. Bar service is available at the Restaurant and offers a wide variety of drinks and cocktails. Special menus for incentive groups are available.

Activities
Mawamba Lodge offers regular boat tours to the small canals, in boats equipped with electric engines, and hikes into the lush rain forest of the National Park area, in which nature lovers can observe the mangroves, many species of birds, mammals and reptiles. Tours are included in our packages.
All tours are conducted and supervised by naturalist and professional trained guides with all necessary safety precautions.

Optional Tours
Fishing for different species, including Snook and Tarpon is available upon request depending on weather conditions and season. Best fishing season runs from September to November.
Turtle night tour available ONLY during nesting season from July to September. It is mandatory to wear dark clothes (preferably black) during the tour. (Note: Picture taking is not allowed)

Conference Facilities
Conference room with air conditioning has a capacity for 40 people. Equipment includes T.V, VHS, slide projector and whiteboard. Seminars can be arranged. Daily slide show presentations on Tortuguero National Park are presented here.
